Training “Revolution”

In recently giving evidence to the Parliamentary Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee, Neil Carberry, Chief Executive of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) is reported to have urged MP’s that the Government must undertake a “training revolution”.

Linking this to issues we are all feeling from supply chain delays, he called for a “bolstering” of the adult skills budget and described as a vital component the broadening the apprenticeship levy, allowing funds to be used so that young people are helped into work.

Great to hear someone banging these much needed drums – the case for more engagement with local employers and training providers, who are well placed to know what skills and training are needed, and creating local skills plans which harness national qualification standards surely merits serious consideration.
